You. In one page. 650 words.

How do you fit everything you want to say about You in such a limited space? Join Nomad this summer for our highly-interactive online College Essay Writing Workshop and learn how to make your essay one to be proud of.

Learn not only what admissions officers are looking for, but also how to find your defining qualities and make your story Personal, Authentic and Revealing.

After exploring model essays, working through guided writing activities, and receiving peer and instructor feedback, you’ll finish, edit and share a solid draft of your essay you can use on your Common App in week 2.

Many of the workshop activities and assignments can be completed on a mobile device. You may want access to a full keyboard for typing your first and second drafts of your longer essay. Feel free to join us while traveling or take a daily work break during an extended vacation. This class will be easy to take with you.

What will you do?

  • Write a Common App Essay that is revealing, personal and authentic
  • Identify the qualities of the best college essays
  • Brainstorm, freewrite, overcome writer’s block, and polish your final work
  • Avoid trite stories, clichés and boring examples
  • Learn skills you can apply to your supplementals and other essays

Students work asynchronously with daily interaction with the instructor.
